Batman Hush (2019) by Justin Copeland

While the graphic novel is a chilling dive into Gotham that puts batman and the family through the trenches, this film feels like any other batman adventure with some new trauma added to keep Bat’s motivated. While Batman stories are often a great way to tell mysteries, Gothic dramas, or dark tragedies, this one doesn’t really invest you enough to deliver on any of those fronts. Sure there is a good mystery at the heart of the film but the motivations for figuring the answers out seem weak. I enjoy Bats and Cat-woman’s relationship but aside from that, the story didn’t really offer anything new or cool to work with. All in all, an average affair that has Bats going through the motions of solving a mystery because he is Batman.
